Neighborhood Councils are an important way to give your local community a voice. By engaging with your Neighborhood Council as a Youth Representative with the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council, you can:
Improve the quality of life in your community.
Represent your neighborhood at City Hall.
Monitor the delivery of city services.
Partner with city departments such as Transportation, Planning, Street Services, Police and Fire to prioritize local projects and work to resolve public safety issues.
If you’re interested in making a difference, we have a place for you! Follow the steps below to register to run as a Youth Representative:
1. Be an LFNC stakeholder aged 14-17 on the day of the appointment who lives OR goes to school in Los Feliz.
2. Write a candidate statement (of no more than 500 words) explaining to the Board why you want to join the Governing Board. Be sure to include:
Where you go to school.
Any relevant experience (school clubs, sports, art programs, etc.)
Any special skills (technology, second language, public speaking)
How you would like to improve Los Feliz and serve your neighbors
3. Attend the virtual Governing Board meeting via Zoom on November 15th to meet the board, make a brief statement, and answer questions.
Two (2) qualified stakeholders will be appointed as the Youth Representative and the Alternate Youth Representative, respectively (the Alternate Representative sits in on Governing Board meetings in the absence of the Youth Representative.). Term ends Summer 2024.
Both Representatives will receive council badges, business cards, email accounts, and are considered elected officials by the City of Los Angeles.
